About Me

I do believe I have embarked on a wild adventure orchestrated by God!
As many of you know I have been taking teams down to Medellin, Colombia to work with Open Arms Foundation for a number of years. Every time I go my love for the country and its people grows. This year was no different, but this time I felt led to talk with overseers of the ministry about the possibility of me moving down there to help out with the ministry.
When I returned to Portland I scheduled a meeting with a mission agency rep as well as my missions pastor to talk about the possibility of me moving to Colombia. As I waited for those appointments I began to question the wisdom in leaving Multnomah and the US. My prayer was, “God, is it wise to leave a stable job in this economy to go to the mission field?” Two days later I was called into my boss’ office to be told that due to decreased enrollment they were needing to terminate my position here at Multnomah. Normally God answers slowly and quietly with me, but for once I was hit over the head with an answer. 24 hours after hearing that news I had a job lined up in physical therapy where beginning July 1 I will be able to work part time. God not only answered my prayer and gave me a confirmation about going, He also immediately provided a good job that will make it possible to continue with school and preparations for the field.

My plan, which God may change or redirect at any moment, is to finish my degree this next year as I work part time and raise support. I will graduate May 2010 and head to language school in Costa Rica August 2010. Once I have a better grasp of the Spanish language (pray for the gift of tongues) I will move to Colombia to join the ministry team of Open Arms. My proposed role is to assist in teaching English as a second language to the kids in the program.
I feel completely overwhelmed and am excited to embark on this wild adventure.
